Question

Recently, I replaced my 318 with a new 360 with a "RV" cam in my 87 W150. Only mods so far are a K&N filter and headers from the 318. I am looking for the best top end combo to incrase power. Can anyone suggest where or what to install. I've looked at the edelbrock power packs, but they're not very clear to me. I'd like to stay with DC products if possible. Has anyone else done these improvements?

To get more top end you'll need a good 4bbl intake. At the level your working on, a stock 4bbl would fit the bill. An intake like the RPM & Stealth start at 1500rpm. Your cam dosn't. Not that it would hurt alot in the range below the min. of the intake. It would be cheaper from the junk yard to get a intake, glassbead it, paint it.
The stock intakes rpm range is from idle to 4500-5000rpm.
For a carb size, a 650 is the largest size to use. With an open air cleaner.
When it comes to exhaust, a dual set up with good hi-flow mufflers. Use a "H" pipe or "X" over. Pipe size would be good @ 2 1/4.
If a single pipe is used, a pipe size of 3 inch will do.
I Hope this helps you.

I have a stock 360 in my 69 Fury. I put a 340 intake, a 73 440 thermoquad, and recurved the stock points dist. I was very impressed at the power increase and RPM gain from the intake and carb. When you can get a thermoquad to work they work Great! I would recommend not using a lean burn carb.

Ive used a thermoquad off a 73 440 myself on my old 318 duster with a cast intake. only had to advance the timing a little to make up for a low end bog but once she overcame the bog,by-bye right rear tire!
