Cam selection for a 413RB motor? Will it run?
I'm looking at 2 diffrent CAMSHAFT makes,a Hughes HE2330BL and the MP 280 . I have a 413 RB motor, stock CR 10:1 ratio a performer RPM intake, topped with a 750 edelbrock carb, HP Manifolds, Elec. Ign, 73.5 cc heads. The trans is a '65 727 STOCK converter with a manual valve body and a 3:55 gear.
The torque converter is the weak link, I understand. What can I expect driveability wise?. With little or no stall, will I just rip the tires badly. Or, be a dog out of the hole. I want a street car that takes out Z's and Stangs. I'm sure most of you have been in this boat, and someone advised you on how things should be done. Pass it on..... This is my first crack at doing major mods on my car. I need to know if I'm going in the correct direction. PLEASE advise.......Thanks,Todd |

mp 280 cam will work ok.. or get the speed pro 280 480 works a little better and cheaper..... what you will have is 383 power with a little more torq do to the stroke of the 413.... 60 over would help =426 cid... stock convertor will work with the 280 cam just fine if it's a wide ring factory high stall.. Lee..
