im not that new to racing but i have never shifted when i raced. does any fellow dodge fanatic have tips on shifting.

I hold it down in gear until it gets to about 100rpm below redline. After I slap it into the next position it takes about 300RPM to complete the shift. So I am riding real close on the rev limiter. You will just have to practice. If you hold it too long and hit the revlimiter, it won't want to finish the shift until you let off the gas.

First your going to have to know where peak HP is made. It would also help if you know where peak torque is as well.
You should note how long it takes to shift into the next gear in rpm's. Go to the track. Start your runs with a shift @ 5000rpm. Next run, shift @ 5500rpm. Note the diff in time slips. Keep trying a diff. rpm until you get the quickest time slip. The key to finding out the best rpm shift point is to be consistant <sp> You know , the same every time. |
