2 1000W max 10" JBL subs
I have 2 1000W max 10" JBL subs that I'm going to install in my sealed enclosure in my 99 QC. How Is it going to sound? It's not going to shake my truck to pieces is it? Can anybody reccomend a good amp and head unit? Will my alternator handle the extra power needs? Any good internet deals out there? Any help is appreciated

there are many options that you could do. I would suggest going with a jbl 600.1 amp. Are they dual voice coil? The reason why I suggested this amp in particular is because when you test jbl subs at the manufacture they will use jbl amps for the sub amp. The subs then tested will sound the best with the compariable amp.

You have to give those subs thier minimal wattage or you'll blow them. So find out whats their RMS wattage and buy an amp thats able to push that or close to that. To adjust the "earth shakeness" from the subs, you gotta play with the crossover on the amp. Ex: Gain and +db dials. Head unit, it all depends on your price range. You wont have a problem with your alt, but you might with your battery

With enough power, those subs will vibrate your interior. I had 2-10" MA Audio DXI's. They handle 600watts and are dual voice coil. I have 97 Ram with the cupholders on the dash above the radio(genius idea from Dodge) and I litterly vibrated drinks out the cupholder when I had the system up loud. I had them in a sealed box under my rear seat. I had to use 2-3/4" spacer rings for each speaker cause the box was small(custom built for a dodge ram). What kind of box you have?

I'll try to get a pic up soon. It's telling me the file is too big. |

I would definetly get the JBL 600.1 for an amp
and for a HU I would get what ever pioneer is in your price range then you will want to look at replacing/upgrading your midrange |

re: "having an effect on your battery" then i suggest at least one digital cap and if you plan on bumping it a lot then go with two. They're ~$100 each and will protect your battery and ultimately your entire electrical system by storing energy that's released for use by the 600.1 (or whatever amp) when the sub kicks on the beat of the music.
