Default header on slant 6

how much more power is there to gain over the stock manifold. My engine has a mild cam and 10 - 1 compression, two barrel carb. and msd ignition. Thanks

Default slant 6

I don't know how much of a gain there is with just a manifold but we hand made an intake + headers for or slant 6 race car with 13:1 pistons + large valve heads extremely ported + polished + it made 400 horse at the rear wheels on a dyno in town.so there is horse power to be found.

Default I don't have any numbers...

but I know someone who put in headers on a similar set-up to yours and he raves about the power difference.

In the old days we used to generalize it buy say 15% more on a stock engine, with a good exhaust. LOL

Can't give a hp number, but if you already have cam, compression, and carb, then you should have headers too. Use at least a 2-1/2" single system or 2-1/4" duals. I've got a 2-1/2" single on my 1971 Valiant right now.

Smile make your own

Here is an Idea; make your own, but instead of one header...make two . Three into one collector, three into anouther to help scavageing firing order 153 624 might just work..please others jump in let me know if I'm wrong or would there have to be three pairs to scavange properly... just a thought .....

Biggrin MP!

I put a Mopar Performance 6 into 1 on my Duster, and it picked up almost .5 and 5mph in the quarter. Jimm, your idea sounds good, but I'm not sure there is enough room in an A-body to do that. Clifford and Hooker both sell 6X2 setups, but they both run 123-456.

Default headers

i am going to pull a trailer won,t be pulling much rpm so not sure i would see much gain from header they are very expensive here in Canada and I'm not sure if they are worth the gain? I thought I might install some sort of ram air ? Thanks for the replies. Brent
