Question Throttle Cable/Linkage Recall 970 PARTS?

Today received my recall for throttle cable and linkage. Recall states "AS SOON AS POSSIBLE ARRANGE FOR SERVICE TO CORRECT A SAFETY DEFECT".

I called dealer and was told it would be about 4 weeks as all parts are back ordered, call back in 3 weeks and we will be able to provide a more definitive time.

Anyone else having this problem after waiting all this time for the recall?

Due to the backlog of trucks affected my dealer here also has the same problem,,I gave my recall notice to the gentleman who purchased my 95 from me,,Whish it would have came alot sooner as mine broke at 98,000 miles and I bought two complete cable sets to have(one on the truck and a spare),,New cable was redesigned to prevent wear and i never needed the second one,,If you can not get one and are in need let me know I have two complete sets in my basement, one for a 95 auto and one for a 98 5 speed,,Let me know if you need it....

Sorry for late response, was away for a week.
Thanks for offer Big Red but I will wait for new parts.

This recall as far as I can determine affects only 94, 95, 96 models for replacement of cable and linkages.

AARONT,
I live south of you and have had these in stock for about 3 weeks now.
If you want to take a short drive south to get the job done, just let me know.

Hope this helps

For those who want to read the details Recall 970 is posted. This recall addresses several problems with the throttle assemble on 94-96 Rams:

1. Throttle cable frays at the injection pump, then breaks leaving the truck with no throttle control.

2. Throttle rod ends fatigue and fall off of the ball studs resulting in no throttle control.

3. Throttle return springs corrode and break resulting in little or no throttle return force. NOTE: 3 combined with 1 or 2 can make driving exciting! BTDT

The TSB replaces all of the above parts with revised versions. Having to wait several weeks for the parts is not a problem unless your throttle cable is frayed or the spring is broken. Check yours for signs of trouble and then don't worry about waiting if they are OK.

Dave

Well dealer called today and said my parts are in for the 970 throttle cable recall. Not bad, only 2 months!!

I said in the meantime, I sold my trusty 94 and bought a 2001 3500 CTD 6x HO 6 speed.
End of throttle recall epsisode!!
P.S. I did pass it on to the man I sold it to.
