I have my handy dandy Old Cars Price Guide Aug. 2001 at hand, and can at least give a hint , values for a 64 Dart convertible are as follows.
Dart 270series Conv. #1: $17,000 #2: $11,900 #3: $6,800 #4: $3,400 #5: $2040 #6: $680 Dart GT Conv. #1: $20,000 #2: $14,000 #3: $8,000 #4: $4000 #5: $2400 #6:$800 I used to have a 4 speed 64 Valiant convertible, and the 4 speed slant six cars are pretty rare. I'm not positive, but I think the 3 speeds may have been on the column. I do know for sure that my 4 speed A body had the extra hump on the floor to clear the linkage. I guess you'll find out when you get the chance to set in it. I don't think they came out with overdrive on the slant sixes until the mid 70's though. |

believe they came with either 3 or 4 speed on the floor. I think that the only column shifter was the automatic, and it also could be had on the floor. The auto floor shift was pretty cheesy as I remember, until the '66s came out. Put up a post after you see it...I'm curious!...........Doug

64 auto would have been a pushbutton shifter. 65 was the first floorshift Auto A body. A one year only PITA!
I can't believe those prices!!! Holy cow! I remember when I got my 66 back in '88 a completly restored, #1 car, early A body GT vert was only worth about 4K! Hurst had a 3 speed conversion kit that put the shifter down on the floor. Might be that as well. The 4 speed /6 combo would be fairly rare. |

Convertibles really have went thru the roof, but it is always good to keep in mind how rare true #1 condition cars are. There are just not that many cars that look like they came right off the showroom floor, with no aging or fading or modifications at all. And when you add a rare option or package like a 4 speed six cylinder, it's hard to figure actual value. Also, I think the true rarity of these cars is finally being acknowledged, I just hate thinking about how many similar cars got destroyed or used up in the 80 and 90s. Until the actual numbers , both produced and surviving, of 4 speed slant sixes are figured, there is no telling how rare they actually are. I do feel they should be at a premium over either an automatic or 3 speed standard car.
