Lightbulb

Ok so now that I have done some looking. That 408 stroker is going to cost to much for me. So I was thinking I would just go with a crate engine. I want to run a 380 360, with a 4-speed. I know you need a different flywheel for this engine. Anyone know the part # of this flywheel? Also will the magnum bolt up to a 4sp? Anyone have an Idea for a good clutch? My coupe is going to be a street car so I don't need anything fancy. The car is a 1940 Plymouth coupe with a nova sub fame, 9" FORD rearend with 3.73s.

Thanks

The Magnum eng. will bolt up to a 4spd. The bolt pattern is the same. As for a clutch, I would look at a CenterForce. Easy pedal effort. As far as the flywheel. I'm not sure.
mtrv8n...are ya here? He has done this. He can help.

Yes, Rumble, i'm here...heheh..
The Magnum needs the external balance flywheel, a stock modern magnum part, costs about $200. Just ask for it by name, the distributor should know exactly what to give you. I've been using the centerforce DF clutch, and it's great for the street. And yes, the whole thing was designed to bolt right up to the 4spd.

I had tried a hays HD clutch, and burned it out after a few clumsy tires burnouts. The CF is much more forgiving, controllable, and long lasting ( been in the car for 18 months now..). The only drawback is that you can't easily power shift it, because of the design. For the street, this is no burden at all, but could cost a few tenths at the track.

You're gonna need monster tires with those 3:73 gears...I'm running 3:23 and smoke em at will...
