'67 B-body max tire size
I need advice from someone who has done this before:
What is the biggest tire that can fit under a stock '67 B-Body (Satellite). My car is completly stock save the super stock leafs and hangers. I heard that a 265 or 275/60/15 would fit, but it's a bitch to put them on. I'm guessing a 4-1/2" back spacing would be needed. I keep looking at Dan Foley's '67 in HPM, and it seems that his rear suspension is stock, and he fit 29" slicks. Any suggestions? |

The only way to be sure is to run three plumbs, one from the fender well, one from the drum face and one from the spring. It'll give you exact readings. Have to measure both sides and also check for obstructions in the wheelwells. And figure rear axle swing as well as "real" tire flex. After measuring my car I have about 1/8 in clearance on my tires on both sides. It will rub if hammering the corners, but, I really made it for straight line acceleration.
