Smile Went to machine shop again, MPP catalog in hand!

Went to machine shop again, took MPP catalog with me. I decided absolutely no CHEVY stuff in MY Sb!

Ohhh by the way......I goofed when I said MPP was that expensive. I priced 16 exh/and int. valves instead of 8 each! Doh! Dropped the price $200 respectively.

So, anyways I went with 2.02 int. and 1.60 exh.,.....the .430/.535 valvesprings.......the 8' locks and retainers all Std. length, 3/8" stem.

Plus he's gonna pocket port and blend (what ever blend means) and I am gonna open up the exhaust ports some more when I get the heads home.

All the MPP stuff came up to $435 before tax and shipping. How much would you guys guesstimate on opening up the int/exh seats on my 302's and a little pocket porting and "blending"?

Am I going to be looking at $750 heads when all is said and done? I BETTER pick up 75hp if so!

This machinist guy said I would lose some cc's outta my heads when he fly cuts the combustion chamber...... true/false?

When I get my heads back I think I will use the .054 head gasket so I don't do this again.

I have talked to many people about my pistons and they (the majority) say don't worry about the small "eyebrow" in my piston. So I am gonna leave like that, till I NOS the crap outta it and crack it or something.

I heard in here that someone bored a 318 .090 and it was ok........true/false? Hmmmmmm?

Well thanks guys and I'll keep you posted!

True. You will lose a few cc's.
A 318 bored that much is possible with the old "A" engine or AKA "Poly 318" Not the newwer "LA" 318's.
If the eyebrow isn't bad....I had a bad one a long time ago. I ignored it. Damage resulted. Then again, the eyebrow in my old 360 was fine for a long time. I told you one thing about it a while ago in fear it could have been bad.
75hp??? Got me on that one.

Good luck Bro.

Dont use the thick .054 gasket just because your valve touched the piston, most failures of this type are due to a failed valve spring or retainer, remember the valve will only come close to the piston with a cam that has alot of duration in a stock motor, stock motors have lots of piston to valve clearance inherently. You should run the thinnest gasket avail to raise your comp and so as to make up for that increased head cc,MP has .024 gaskets,if your worried check your clearance..........PRO.......
