Tube Tcchnologies inc. 3" exhaust was purchased by two friends. A '68 Charger R/T 440 and a '70 440+6 'cuda. Both engines are modified and use Hooker #5101 headers.

Their "H" pipe has a 3 bolt collector ring welded on each pipe to mount the exhaust to whichever header you are using. In both cases, one of the collector rings (drivers side) was off by 90*. Had to be cut off and rewelded in the proper position to work. Once that was corrected, the fit was very good.

With 3" exhaust pipe and mandrel bends, it looked like it would flow. And it did. The performance gain was UNREAL! Especially at WOT. The previous 2 1/2" exhaust did not even come close. It was that big a difference.

I contacted the company to let them know of our problems and hopefuly they looked into it.

BTW, The 'cuda is also using reproduction exhaust tips from Mancici Racing which feature 3" inlets. The look, quality and performance are excellent. The Charger will get them next.

Hemimike, its good to hear truth!!!,as in 3" exhaust systems, the performance gain is measureable,my Valiant gained over .5 in the 1/4 going from 2.5 to 3. I guess I'm tired of arguing w/people who have never tried it yet discredit it.....PRO...

This 3" exhaust system got me interested. I have a 340 6 pack on a 69 barracuda. As of right now I am using the stock manifolds but am planning on going to headers. either flowtech or tti's. I currently am running a 2.25 dia system. do you guys feel that I would see the same benifits from the 3" dia or not since my engine is smaller. I'll give you some spec's If it makes any difference in your opinion of the outcome, I am running 3.23's with a 2800 stall and i'm in the process of installing a Hughes valve train (cam. .539 lift) and alum roller rockers this week. I have a set of unworked 587 heads that I am planning on having hughes setup for me also. thanks in advance

Hey guys, I just installed a 3" TTI exhaust system on my 71 challenger r/t. I had similiar problems as Mike did but other fitting problems as well. After hours of struggling to get it to fit I took the car to an exhaust shop to install. They had to bend and flare the whole right side. Even the tips had to be flared to fit on the tailpipe! At least I have a lot less clamps. I'm happy with the system but it is not a bolt on!! <><

I also put tti 3 inch on my 67 R/T, I had to end up bringing it to an exhaust shop to get fitted as well....but it is worth it. Welds are more reliable then clamps anyways!
