Default 318 2bbl to 4bbl linkage - help?

I am converting my '79 pickup with 318 from 2bbl to 4bbl. Can anyone tell me what problems I might run into as far as linkage is concerned. I am installing Edlebrock Performer manifold #2176 and Edlebrock carb. #1406. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I am in the same boat, I am trying to get everything together before I start so I don’t have any surprises when I do the change over. I currently have the 4-barrel intake and I am looking for everything else. What I am going to do since I am not in any hurry is keep going to the wrecker once a week or so, it is on my way home anyway and look for the same frame model as mine. When I find a 4 barrel setup than I will take the tranny kick down lever, all the hoses and vacuum amp if needed, the fuel line to the fuel pump, the vacuum tree at the back of the manifold and draw a simple diagram as well as removing the emissions sticker for reference. Basically I will just take everything that there is that hooks up to the carb and intake manifold. I can get all these parts for about 20 bucks and then I don’t have to hunt around and guess what else I nee

Cool

You're going to need the bracket that holds the throttle cable from a 4 barrel small block. (car or truck, I don't think it matters)

As far as the kickdown linkage, it's been a while since I've done mine, but I think all I had to do was drill another hole in the piece that goes to the throttle lever to get the correct range of motion.

For the Edelbrock carb, you will also need the Chrysler throttle lever adapter #1481.

Good luck, Joe

Biggrin Thanks!

Thanks MoJoe,
I have the 1481 adapter. Maybe I can find the bracket at a used parts dealer (junkyard).

Be careful of the bracket that you get, there are a bunch of different ones for different models. Just make sure yours is off a later 70's pickup and you should be ok.
