Biggrin smarty poopy-pants Dak

We feel like a couple of smartie today. Most of you guys probably think this is childs play but it was the first time we've ever done one of these conversions. And it worked!!!! My wife and I removed the very troublesome TBI on a friends 318 '91 Dakota and replaced it with a 600 Holley, Edelbrock Performer, and a Crane Annialator ignition. No big deal usually, but the Dak computer runs charging, cruise control, over drive, torque converter lock up, daytime running lights(we're in Canada), fuel pump, air conditioning compressor, and I think the rear view mirror. It was kind of necessary for us to get the computer in on the deal.
We searched all through the service manual and finally ended using the tach output from the Crane ignition box as the sourse for the distributer signal. We then transferred the temp and the MAP sensor onto the Performer. The TPS is hooked up but just laying there, as is the throttle body temp sensor. The throttle body is removed so the idle motor is unhooked as are the injectors. We then adapted the throttle cable boss to mount onto the carb. The TBI used a cable that was more like a bike brake cable on the end. A bit of work with a hacksaw and a welder, and the cable mount and the kick down mech were adapted to an intake mount.
For fuel pressure we are using a regulator from a Holley blue pump. The pressure for the Holley (15psi) is actually slightly higher than the stock TBI pump (14.5) so we just set the regulator to 6.5 lbs pressure an let'er rip.
Did I mention Rip? Hokey smudge Batman!!! This thing actually goes! It actually has enough power to get out of it's own way. It was a complete sled before and many trips to different dealers made no difference.
But it works great now! Sorry to be so long winded but I had to tell someone!

COOOOOOOOL!

Good job! I hope I never have the need to do that. But if I do, I'll know how to call.
Glad to see someone is thinking and tinkering.
Now the big question, will it pass emissions? Or will it matter?
AHHHH, who cares, your up and running!

The way I look at it is that it smells like more performance to me! We're in Alberta so unless you are emitting a green toxic death cloud they will probably leave you alone.
