Question pricing 408 parts and ?'s

I'm looking for the best places to get these parts.
Mopar 4" cast crank, I have heard of it selling for just over $300.
KB 356 pistons or comparable ~ $300.
Eagle I beam rods.

If I can keep the total under 2K I'll be building one as a low RPM torque monster

Now the ?'s,
1. When having my rotating assembly balanced, would I be better off supplying a neutral balanced 318 flexplate, converter, and damper? Or the 360 parts?
2. Will the Eagle rods need to have the small end machined? If so, I may reuse the stock rods.
3. Does Ma Mopar have pistons for this application? Any details?
4. Who makes pistons for the 318-390 stroker? Just in case the 360 block turns out to be no good

TIA
Marc

Olson Dodge sells the crank for 15% over their cost and the best place I have found for Eagle rods is ebay.
nobody that I know stocks a piston for that 318 combo you mentioned but a few places have .030 over for the 340 and 360,personally I would not even think about putting the KB's in an engine like thise but to each his own.

If you internally balance this combo you are looking at $350-$400 because of all the mallory it takes to do it,I personally went with a 360 balancer and a 318 flywheel, not sure whatt he external balance is costing me but it will be a little more than most anyone else because I am also having it balanced with an external balance B&M flexplate.

You should get real close to that 2k figure for the short block, even using a better(forged) piston.

I am currently having a 416 stroker put together, and the machine shop did have to narrow down the small end of the Eagle rod to fit the KB piston. Hope this helps.

Re: 390 stroker pistons.
JE makes them, my engine builder is ordering me a set.
Ross does too.
But I don't think either advertises them as an off the shelf offering. I think they ought to...

Default Thanks for the responses

Has anyone used the kit from Hughes Engines?
They have a 408 kit; crank, I beam rods, pistons, rings, bearings.
And, it's balanced too. The price is $1603, and for another $80 they'll machine the piston's for head clearance (KB356).

http://www.hughesengines.com/crank_k..._kit_index.asp

BTW, I saw the crank for $315, rods for $230 @ Mancini,
and the pistons for $292 @ Hughes and Summit. If the balancing is going to run $350-$400, + machining the rods, and pistons, it just makes the kit look like the right thing to do.
