Question

are the 915 castings the only closed chamber cast iron heads.

I don't knoe the casting #'s offhand, But the 66-67 383 heads were closed chamber as well but the factory valve sizes were small, something on the order of 1.94" intakes and 1.60" exhaust. The 440 "Magnum" 915 head was the Hp version of this with minor port revisions as well. I'm sure someone will chime in with the exact #'s and valve sizes.

Cast numbers for 64-67 383 heads "516"

The intake valves were the 2.08's but exhaust valves were 1.60's. Earlier 2.02 and even smaller intake valves had been used. All the pre '68 BB heads were closed chamber, also the Max Wedge heads. The regular early heads have a poorer port design than the '67 915 and newer open chamber heads. The 915 heads were used in '67 440's and they came with both 1.60 and 1.74 exhaust valve sizes but the port is the same. Earlier BB heads had bolt on rocker shaft stands and only four valve cover bolts.
