Default Cost is correct

First you have to consider the cost of the mallory/tungsten. It's not cheap! A regular balance job runs ~$125 here in Texas. Your quote is in the normal range for an internal balance.

Looks right to me. Does that $200-$300 include grinding the crank?

Thanks for the reply Nightri 1 and Doug,

Does a new crank require grinding? I thought a hone job would do it. Do they come un-machined??

Also, do you know what a stock 340 rod weighs? I know they are all different, but are there typical little end and big end weights??

I talked to SCAT Industries who manufacture the crank for MP and they say the bobweight of the 4" crank is approximately 1950-2000 grams. They said thats pretty high...

They have a formula to determine the amount of mallory needed using the weight of the piston/rod assembly the bobweight of the crank.

Sounds like MPs design specs aren't very close to actual use weights. but we'll see.
