Cool

What should the initial timing be for a 340 with the following items. Holley 750, Edelbrock TM-5, Headers, 3/8 fuel line, high performance Orange box ignition. Which way do you move the timing from stock to increase power for Drag Racing? Retard or advance?

I would first disconnect the vacum advance hose, then i would set inital timing to 10 degrees and put some light springs in the mechanical advance inside the dist. mopar perf. has these.what you really want is around 36 degrees total timing with the engine reved to 3000 rpm with the light weight springs installed.leave the vaccum disconnected for racing.36 is just a starting point.your car might take a couple degrees more or less depending on your compression and fuel.you don`t want so much that it causes pinging.I have ran as much as 40 degrees on a low compression 360.I hope all this makes sense as i`m not very good with words.
