what is the widest drag slick i can put under my 70 duster with the offset shackles? i currently have M/T e.t. street 28-11.5-15 (9") i would like to stay with the 28" tall tire. I would like to run 11" wide tires. thanks for input

You did'nt mention what rim you're using.(or is that what you meant by(9") If you use an 9 inch rim with 4 1/2" back-space(typical) you should be able to fit a 10" slick w/offset shackles with out much problem. This would give you another inch on the track. If you are asking if 11" slick would fit then you would have to go to a 10" rim and around 12.7 to 13." sectional width--I dont think even with the added inch or so from the off-set springs its gonna fit.The Hoosier 28x10.0 would be just under 12" section and(I think)a good choce. If you could get an extra 1/2" backspace it would be nice)If you went with another "cheater" slick, the Hoosier QT PRO is 10" wide with only 11.2"section! Hope this is of some help to you. Good luck!

Why so tall of a tire for a dart? I run 26x8.5 MT slicks on my dart and it's stuck to the starting line. I mean no spin at all.
I have a buddy that run the same only they are 10's. I run mine on a 7 inch wheel. with 3 1/2 inch backspace. Looks kinda narrow from the rear but hooks hard. Don't put any more tire under there than you need. It only adds rolling weight and resistance.

The rim size is 8"x15" craeger ss with 41/2" back spacing. My 60' times are consistant, the engine is about 450 to 500 hp 440. the rear end is 83/4 with spool and 4:30 gears. It runs consistant 11.70. i plan to upgrade the cam from a .557 mopar to a .640 ultradyne and switch to roller rockers this winter. I would also like to switch to a lighter rim like a weld or pro star, so i figure i might as well go with the best traction i can get if i'm buying new and increasing the hp. I like the 28" tall tire because it puts the rpms right about where i want them 6200 thru the traps.

motorhead--I think your combo is gonna rock! I have a simular 440 in my 72 Challenger. I've based some of my comments on the experience I've had with my set-up. I'm running stock suspension w/27x10.5 Hoosier QT PROs on 15x8x4.5 Weld Draglites. Dont have any times yet but they hook good! Like I say, tho, I got the 'E' body and so things are different. I'd like to refer you to www.bigblockdart.com that guy will be of alot more help to you, I think! Have fun and good luck next season!
