Default 66 belvedere street

well... that belvedere II I had been talkin about earlier.
66 belvedere II hardtop, 4.56 posi rear, reverse manual valve body automatic (hurst), not original seats (from some white car and the rest is green/black), machine shop built 440 big block guessin around 550hp or more, dual 3.5 Inch exhaust (exits behind doors), this is a low 13 second car with 9 inch tires, with slicks open exhaust and some suspension work low 12's or high 11's with the right weather etc. . It is almost rust free, it has a lil bubble on the passenger door, but the drivers side floor has a LARGE patch that can only be seen if u lift the carpet, that is the only reason why we haven't bought it.
My dad is figuring JUST the powertrain to be worth about 5k cuz it is EVERYTHING, but the car AND the powertrain is $5500 plus 120 for shipping it back home, we aren't quite sure if we should get it yet, but it is VERY tempting

Tell me what u guys think PLEASE!!! is it worth it? should I just build one, or should we buy it just for the powertrain? ANY SUGGESTIONS would be GREAT!!
Thanks!

If that thing really has 550 HP, Your looking at mid to high 11's w/ slicks and open exhaust. Little rust - $5500 is a steal. An engine with 550 HP would cost around $4000 less igniton, carb exhaust, etc. Tranny would be another $600 - $1000. The 4.56 rear is also a plus. Just make sure the power train is good.

If the mechanicals are good, I WOULD! It wold cost you a lot more with the cost machine shops and everything else to build the same car. Even if you don't like the body, it's worth it just for the drive train. That rear isn't that easy or cheap to find. There's a lot of us that grew up in the midwest or eastcoast that are used to seeing rust on anything thats over 5 years old. So what if it's got a patch on the floor or a bubble in the door. So long as the frame is still o.k. anything else can be patched or straightened. I've put together a lot worse. Let us know
