Also, I am working on a tranny
setup for my car, and am building an Abody 833. I have a comp Plus shifter
from Hurst and I just got some hollow straight Hurst race rods, which I am
going to use. I have a McLeod Borg/Beck Style 10.95" scalloped pressure
plate, street disc, and T/O bearing. I am running the Lakewood
scattershield, and so need to get a linkage setup for the petal. I am
putting in a new Overcenter Spring, (my old one broke) but am wondering if
the stock clutch setup (using the /6 9.5" clutch, or the 318and
larger 10.5" clutch or even the 9.5" commando) has enough force (distance) in ti to disenage the new clutch completely. I want to know if the stock clutch provides enough distance to depress the plate or if
I need to cut and make the arm on the Z bar longer.....know what I mean?
Thanks. I am also wondering if anyone has heard of drilling holes in the
little metal tabs on the sidecover for the shifter half way in between the
stock holes and the rotational axis so that you can decrease the overall
distance you have to throw the shift lever back and forth to engage and
disengage gears. This is a hole on the ear on the side cover where you put
the shift rod to increase throw ratio. Thanks. Joseph Tonna
