Question

Hi guys, I havent been around for a while, been busy tooling with my 440 dart.
Got a few ?'s to ask. Im gonna build a new motor, for my dart. (too much time on my hands) I have the parts to build a 400 with a 440 crank. Is this a good power maker? I'm looking to run 11.50 or faster in the 1/4 and still be streetable.
the car: 1969 dart gt, 727, 3500 stall, 8 3/4 with 3:91 rear
Here's where i am at now, 72 400 block,70 440 crank turned down to 400 mains, 440 LY rods, .030 ross 10.50 pistons.
Now i have a set of ported 915 heads but the the new MP aluminum heads really have got my gears turning. Not sure what I'll use yet. Now i dont know what cam and intake to use because i am not sure what the rpm range of the motor will be. any help will be great. I'm looking for the hostess with the mostest here. thanks guys

Everything you have so far is great. You want a streetable ride.I'd use the heads you have now and a 292/509 cam.Intake- I'd try and find a old Edelbrock Torker 383 at a swap meet. The Mopar alum. heads are good, but need bowl work done first, otherwise they flow the same as a stock set of 906's- not worth the money in my book. The heads you have now can be opened up to 2.14I 1.81E valves and that will wake that stroker motor up.As far as what I said about a cam... I like a hydraulic cam for what you are doing with a set of Mopar Performance stock type rocker arms. It's easy to maintain and will rev to 6500 with a good gear in the back. Our 71 Demon has a 383 with 11.5 TRW's and the 284/484 hyd cam and it runs 11.60's all day long.I wouldn't use roller rockers, too much $$$.This motor should run 11.30's easily.
