OK,, I have a "built" fairly strong 440 Installed in my 71 Demon & it has been a real pain finding & fixing this oil leak I have.
I have pulled the engine three times(a real hard job for one old 58 year old geaser). I think I have eleminated, motorplugs, mainseals, & the intake metal gasket. I have a oil splash shield installed on the oil pan & cork gaskets (two). I spent 30 years working around Pumps at Dow Chemical so I know that cork can be tightened to much. That spreads the gaskets & causes problems.
I am getting oil driping down off the rear 4 pan bolts. I have removed them & replaced them & tightened them pretty darn tight, still ,every time I check there is oil on the boltheads & driping on the floor. Are the bolts to small? I installed washers - Big ones that I had to shave to get into the channel around the pan.that didn't help, neither did longer bolts. Do I need a different kind of gasket?? This is the second pan also..
Its a pretty bad leak as the exaust pipes are gettin coated as I drive. Please help???

Sounds like the rear main seal is bad.

Maybe the vslve covers leaking down, or the fitting for the oil pressure switch or gauge, which ever one your using, might be leaking down the back of the block. If it is
I used PST thread sealant.
