Does anyone know the exact specs uncluding lobe center of the 300 hp 360 mopar magnum crate motor? It's going into a 67 Barracuda with a 904 and a 3:23 sure grip although a 3:90 is also available. I'm slightly concerned that the cam that resides in that motor will be too docile and have any hint a a rumpty rump rump idle. Does anyone use this motor now?

Famous Frank;
If thats the old 360/ 360hp create eng. you have there,the cam is a purple cam.
Yep! MoPars own. It should have the sound you want. As far as specs go,I don't know.
But you said Magnum...???...Thats 380hp.
That cam is a Roller. Specs are adv.ed @ 288-292. O-lap of 74 w/a centerline of 108.
Lift is, int. @ .501-exh.@ .513.
This should also fit the bill.
Docile..I think not. It's a good size cam for a small block. I have heard these eng.'s before. I think they sound nice.

I have that motor. It is very docile. The cam is standard truck fare. Idles as low as you want to go.

I got the spec for the replacement camshaft off of the MP online catalogue.

P5249663 250/264 37 110 .385/.401

Kinda crappy, huh? When I bought mine they were advertising a 268/.433 camshaft in them. That advertisement disappeared soon after purchase. Little pissy about this because I was buying sound as well as power.

Dear kchristopher,

Thank you for the feedback on my crate motor. Does yours idle with any lope at all or does it sound like a new Dodge pickup out of the showroom with a low restriction motor? What is yours installed in? Have you got any 1/4 mile times with it? What gear / trans are you using?

I hate to ask all the questions, but I have a fortune tied up in the car and I want it right. The car is a rust free 67 Barracuda convertible that currently has its original 273 2V in it. At first I was going to perform a stock restoration. It needs seat covers, dash pad, carpeting, etc. The little 273 is got excessive blow bye and uses about 6 quarts of oil every 200 miles. YIKES! As I was looking for pistons for the 273, I came across a guy who had purchased the 300/360 crate motor and ran into a financial bind. I bought the 300/360 new, in the crate for $1800. That changes al my plans. I've boughta beefed 904 from J&W transmission, I got an 8 3/4 with a 3:23 sure-grip from a fellow North Georgia Mopar Club member, New rear springs, New gas shocks, 73 Volare front suspension with new rotors, calipers, etc., New master cylinder and booster, 340 HiPo exhaust manifolds, and I'm installing factory A/C. The car is going on a rotiserie next week for new paint. I took the engine to Ray Bartons and had it broken in and dyno'd , etc. It made 297 HP and 409 lb.ft. but I never got to hear it idle. If it goes purrrr, I'll be very disappointed. So, before I put in the motor after the paint is done, if I have to, I'll change out the cam now.

Any help or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
Frank
