Question

I have a '74 Dart that will be soon getting a fresh 360. In my search for headers, I found that Dynomax and Hedman both offer headers that are "supposed to fit" A-bodies without any problems. (both around $90.00)

Has anyone ever had experiences with these two brands? I looked into TTI Headers, but they were very pricey.

Are there any reasonable priced headers that will fit, or should I suck it up and pay for the TTI? If it makes a difference, I will be able to put the headers on before I drop the engine in.

Thanxs!

Biggrin

I put a set of the hedmans in my buddy's 67 barracuda and a set in my 74 charger. His set took a ding where one of the tubes drops by the starter. It fit but was against the solinoid. The same part number in my charger had over 1/4" clearance.I guess the tolerances are alot loser on the cheap sets.I am happy with my set.I have a set of the cppa (tti?)headers on my bigblock dart and they look good...but are any headers really worth $500?Get the hedmans.

Thumbs up

we put dynomax headers on my buddies 68 cuda(engine bay is same size as yours)and they are a tight fit and kinda hang low.
we had to lay them in position and then drop the motor in.they also rub on the power steering box.they look good(they're ceramic coated cost $179.99)and work fine, but i'm so afraid he's gonna bottom out!
i also have a 74 dart.when i get the 360 in there i'm gonna save up for the tti's or hipo exhaust manifolds!i've seen alot of a bodys with crunched in headers.

This doesn't answer your question, but reminds me of a funny incident about 25 years ago when a friend of mine was putting a 396 into a Camaro. He had picked up a set of big-tube headers, and bolted them onto the engine first. When he went to drop it in, one of the tubes hit against something, think it was the crossmember. So he raises it up about 6 inches, and just drops it. Does that about 3 or 4 times, and then it fit okay.

Chebby guys!!
