topic on dec 7 concerning over richness. the problem turned out to be the person who owned the ta be for me had drilled out the lead on the end carbs at the base of the them. behind the lead are adj screws for fuel. the BONEHEAD!!!!! had them adjusted 3 turns out. i got fed up and said im not leaving until i find the problem. i looked down the throat of the carbs and saw large pools of gas. so i adj the two end carbs all the way in then backed them out 1/2 turn. i then cleaned the plugs crossed my fingers andTURN THE KEY! after 20 days of bangin my head that engine started to purr like a tiger. god what a relief. it was right in front of me, i just didnt see it. so guys never give up the problem can be found. sometimes ya just gotta sleep on it.

I had a similar problem with my first MoPar.
It was a '70 GTX that ran rich as crazy. When I adjusted the mixture screws it only made things worse. I finally backed the screws out all the way and looked at them.
The needles on the ends of the screws were bent out of shape. Someone tried to SEAT the idle mixture screws all the way down!!
I was able to order some replacement idle screws and after it adjusted right up. Ran great.

Cool

GREAT BUT,dont forget to change the oil from all the previous over fueling so you dont wash the rings or bearings away.
