Overdrive Transmissions
aqigt, im just wondering what yall are doing for overdrive stick transmissions. im not going to do it anytime soon, but im exploring options at this point. i know dewme has a chevy six speed, that some have the A-833OD (hows this hold up? especially w/ slicks and massive power?), and the kinsler 5-speed kits out there. any suggestions? howd ya make it work?

I've got an 833OD behind the turbo 440. They can be made to hold up by bushing case for the side shaft, but the gear splits suck some serious butt!
I assisted in the installation of a Kiesler kit (Tremec TKO) in a '70 440+6 Road Runner. It went in easily and drives real nice. When I begin to feel wealthy again, I'll go with one of those or a T-56 Viper style tranny. |

The 833 OD would be the cheapest, but the ratios from 1st to 2nd are horrible. 3.09 first gear and then bang second at 1.45 ratio, needless to say there is a big rpm drop. The Tremec TKO is a very nice trans at about $1300 plus bellhousing, etc. Richmond also makes a 6 speed overdrive but it is very expensive.
