Question which ignition?

G'day guys, I run a 20 year old MP distributor, MSD 6C and MSD blaster on my 507 c.i. motor in my Challenger. It seems to run fine, but as I have rebuilt/replaced just about everything on the car, should I upgrade, or is this as good as it gets for street use and the occasional strip use. I live in Oz, and things are triple in price what you guys spend, so I have to choose carefully. I have been told that the MSD 7AL and Billet dissy is the way to go, but at a price of $1400 all up, I cant afford to pick a dud. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

If it's working right, why change it? If it ain't broke don't fix it-especially at those prices!.....djs

I just recently changed my mp distributor and jacobs energy team on my 70 bee to the msd pro billet distributor and msd digital 6 plus ignition and blaster hvc coil. I gained about a tenth in the quarter (12.23 best to a 12.14 with slight tire spin, I feel without the slippage it could of been or will be 12.09 or so according to my 60 ft times) Also the car idled a lot better and the distributor is very easy to adjust. Is it worth the 7 hundred I had to pay? I say YES with the built in rev limiters and ease of tuning. But if your just looking to change it in a street car I dont know if it would be worth it to you. (keep in mind though, I was already using a very good street ignition, and the difference between the chrysler electronic ignition and a msd setup would most likely be a lot greater) GOOD LUCK

I've seen way to many mopars in my area switch from mopar chrome box and mopar distributor to full MSD setup and gain absolutely nothing! I run the MP race dist., chrome box and MSD blaster coil and it shoots out a nice big spark.

once again.. if it works, then its doing the job. if you can sustain spark all the way to the red line, then everything is doing what it should. and with a CD ignition, it should be pulling to just about any V8's red line with no problem. If your plug wires are all worn out. then replace them. but the ignition should be doing you good.
