Yates to build Dodge engines for Petty!

Just read on Jayski.com that Roberts Yates has been "helping design cylinder heads" for Petty Enterprises and will build engines for Petty's three cars next year.

Also that someone drove off with a trailer containing one of Petty's cars while it was parked at Yates shop!

Allright you guys, which one of you got the car?

You know, if you stop and think about it, what they got was an expensive car but one with no market value (without a LOT of risk). New style Winston Cup cars are not seen on just any race track and as for the R5/P7 engine, its value would be almost zero, at least right now. Bet someone has that car in a garage somewhere and they are hoping no one talks. And trailers are serial numbered...

Where do you hide a race car you can never drive or show anyone?
Can't really chop it up into pieces and sell it off.

I'd say it was taken by the "not too smart thief".

It was probably some chevy or Ford boys who took it, because they were starting to get scared now that dodge started winning some races in nascar (due to their total domination of the Craftsman Truck series) .

They probably took the car thinking it would halt their plans, or else they took it in hopes of finding something to cry about to the Nascar sanctioning bodies.

Or maybe the took it to copy some of its Design .

Lets see....If you could rebody it as a P/T Cruiser, I bet it would be a ball to drive to the Cruise- ins'.I don't condone theft as such but it does make for interesting "What ifs"

Pettys can use the help. Maybe they can also get someone to drive for Kyle and then hire Jimmy Makar to set up the chassis and then maybe they can actually qualify for more races.
