Question Anybody running a Hughes Cam?

I am considering buying a new (slightly hotter) solid cam to replace the MP .528 / 284 cam in my 340. Anybody using Hughes cams? What cam do you have and what is it in? I'm interested in the good and the bad.

Thanks,
Lar

I can only say good.

Replaced the MP 509 in my 440 with the HE3844. Bottom end increased BIG TIME. So much that I was going to try to kill off some bottom end with an M-1 single plane in lieu of the Performer RPM. Also was going to up to 2" headers instead of 1-7/8". Engine seemed to pull better on the top also. The 440 was in my '67 Satellite (3650 lbs) and I would run 11.7's @120 mph. It looked stock besides the intake/headers/and the sound. GOING to try because I just sold it. replaced it w/ 400 I also had that will run high 13's. I would also check out Muscle Motors and thier Ultra Dyne solids. Have seen a few of them run - awesome!

I was going to run a hughes 245 solid but I could not get the required installed height ( 1.8) for the hughes springs. So I called ultradyne and they have a 243 solid and the springs for that cam are intsalled at 1.65. (they are lunati springs) 120-130 lbs on seat. Be shure to check your installed height before you order the hughes cam.

I run the Hughes 3844 hydraulic cam in my 73 Dart Sport 340, and it makes awsome power. It is basicly a stock type rebuild, TRW forged replacment pistons, 915 (J) heads with stock 2.02/1.60 valves that I ported at home in my garage, Offy Port-O-Sonic intake, 700 DP holley, and Hooker headers. I have run the best of 12.06 @ 110 mph with a 1.63 60 ft time. If I build another Mopar it will have another Hughes cam. Very satisfied with it.

Had a HE2330 in a 440 in a '66 Coronet I had. Awsome power from down low to red line and beyond. It'd run high 12's with a stock converter freeway gears and short BFG Drag Radials. Can't say enough good about their cams. 100% sold, it's all I'm gonna use from now on.

Check them out. Looks like good stuff to me although I have no personal experience with them.
