Anyone had any experience with spark plug wires made by Taylor or Magnecor? Any suggestions or comments appreciated, or tell me if you have had a better experience with another brand.

Charger500;

When I shop for wires, I'm looking for the lowest resistance. The lower the better!
MSD has the lowest with Jacobs A real close second.
When I look at Taylor wires, they remind me off the MoPar Performance wires. I have the MoPar wires. No problems with them except with header clearance on my Cuda with the street headers on. Cyl.'s 5 and 7. I Put a slevee on it.

Have you tried summit racing. They seem to have everything in stock that I have ordered.

I have used the Taylor wires and they are Ok for the price, but the are so soft they don't hold up really well, and I also burn't the books on some of the wires with my headers.
I switched to Jacobs wires which are much more expensive, but they seem to hold up better and have a lifetime garentee.
I got mine from a local speed shop (on sale even.) This worked out pretty good because I did pull one end off the plug wire changing plugs. The Jacobs wires have the spark plug boot glued to the wire, so you really can't easely repair a wire.
Since I bought the wires locally, I took the bad wire to the speed shop, and they made me a new wire on the spot, for free because of the guarentee.

I haven't used the MSD wires, but they look pretty good. I don't know if the MSD wires have as good RF noise suppression as I have read a few posts that they produce some noise over the radio?

I have had the Magnecor CN125 ignition wires for about 30,000 miles.

These are special wires from Magnecor with more resistance for radio frequency interference surpression. For getting rid of RFI these wires have worked great - better than anything I have used before.

The Magnecor quality is high and I have had no problems with these wires.

I do not believe that the resistance of the ignition wire has very much to do with how well the wire actually performs at igniting the mixture. Lower is not necessarily better.

It also is eye opening to measure the resistance of sparkplugs. Sparkplugs vary a lot in resistance - even so called 'non-resistor' plugs.

Did you know that a Champion RC12YC has a resistance of 85,000 ohms while a Bosch F6DP (pn 4227) is supposedly non-resistor but still has a resistance of 1,400 ohms ?

It doesn't match up with common sense much, but the main effect that resistance in either the wire or the plug has is on how long the spark lasts.

High resistance means a longer lasting but slightly less bright spark. Low resistance means a bright spark that lasts only a short time.
