Default dakota vs 454 SS

im not sure what year it was. i think its a 90 or 91. its one of my best friends truck. i dont know what mods it has but i do know it had a loud ass true dual exhaust and it has a 4 speed auto instead of the stock 3 speed auto. well we raced from a stop and i beat him off the line and put at least 3 car lenghts on him to 115. then we raced from a 35 mph roll, i expected this race to be close cause he didnt have to worry about too much tire spin but we punched it at the same time and i imediately jumped out a car when my truck dropped into first and then went to about 90 or 100 and he was about as far back as the race before. i thought he was gonna beat me. what do these trucks run stock?

I'd say they run in the high 15's depending on driver and traction. However I do have a couple buddies with mod's (computer, gears and a few chevy tricks) into the low 15's with perfect traction.
nice kill....ramiam

Thumbs up

Modded one, good kill!!

I ran a stock one last year and he ran 16.5
The 92, had a few more hp and was a little faster. (still over 16) Modded up though its a whole new ball game. Im sure you could knock a couple sec. off those times with the right modds.
Your RT Dak would be faster stock vs stock. I see the CCs run 15.2 and R/Cs 15.0.

Good run. I have always wanted to take out a 454ss, but they never want to run with me. Oh well.

Default 16's froma 454ss

yeah i know 454ss trucks are highly overrated....just a huge engine with no hp....16s is just hard to believe though...a stock sonoma runs 16s....and a friend of mines 2000 silverado with 5.3 and 3.73 posi rear and only a flowmaster muffler ran 15.4 at the track...i saw it run that and consistent 15.6s....16s from a huge engine is just hard for me to swallow

I have had a couple of informal races against them from stoplight to stoplight (on a deserted stretch of road, of course) and pulled them both times. One guy that I talked to later said that mine was the first Ram that he had ever pulled him right off the line. At the time I ran against him I had run a best 1/4 time of 15.29, and that was before I did the cam and stall converter, so I might be a little quicker than that now. I'm sure that with some mods the 454 could be considerably faster.
