Underhood....like the old Paxton? They (the manufacters like Vortec, powerdyne and others.) Make them for the newer Magnum eng's in the Jeep, Dakota, Ram and GOD willing<please> a new rear wheel drive sports car. (that rocks)
If you don't mind swaping over pulleys and brackets, it would be a snap!

One of the larger companies(I think it's powerdyne) sells a kit to use their cent. superchargers on a carb engine. It's basically a box that fits around the carb from the supercharger. I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for or not.

There was a magazine article on a super charger kit that was put on a '74 challenger 360. If I can dig up the magazine, I'll send you the name of the company.

Go to http://www3.edgenet.net/sdce/ They have kits with ATI intercooled Prochargers to fit small and big block mopars. ATI is the best out of all the centrifugal superchargers and with the intercooler it makes one mean combo.

cmyindy;

Have you ever delt with paxton? I HATE them!!! Even the local speed shops are dumping them. I TRULY believe that they get the stupidest peaple they can find or the most smoked out on drugs.
There the WORST I have ever delt with. I would rather drive a
chevy than deal with paxton!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NEVER AGAIN!!!

Hey, Rumblefish, I'm just guessing here, but I'd say you had a bad experience with them...

I couldnt find anywhere on the vortec page that said there was a supercharger available for teh 340. i saw the carburator enclosure but i went snooping a bit more on the site to see what they had for the older 340 and there wasnt anything
question : would the 360 supercharger suffice? only problem IS, wouldnt it blow alot more boost? causing my 340 to run LEAN?
Would a supercarger dramatically shorten the lifespan of my 340?

72challengr;

Bad experience??????/
Like I have never delt with a Biz. thats set up to go out of biz. They didn't even want to sell me a unit for my car. "We don't make S/B Mopar stuff" , "Are you sure you want to do a MoPar" , "Wouldn't it be better to do a Chevy", "We can't sell you a kit for a old ENG. because we don't make supercharger kits for anything that old" , "how will you mount the unit if we don't surply the brackets"
These are the guys who lay claim to be the best?
YES THEY SUCK!!!!!
I'll use a hair dryer 1st!!!!!!
I have one question. Where do I find the nitrophl <spelling> floats for a Carter/Edelbrock carb?

PS sport340 A supercharger will not shorten the life of the ENG. IF;
You don't crank up the pressure to HI heaven and kick the gas pedal like a red headed step child. No sense of beating it like its gonna live forever.
Mild boost and smart driving will keep it in good health for a long time.
Use QUALITY parts!!

I don't see why you couldn't use a supercharger for a new magnum engine. Heck the only thing that would really cause a problem would maybe be the brackets, and those can be made locally. The boost can be controlled by different size pulleys.

The brackets could be had at a junk yard with pulleys as well. Or brand spankin new from the dealer.
But that wasn't good enuff for them. They would give me more resons as to why i couldn't. And all I could say is your talkin B.S ! They were not making ANY sense at all.
Like I said before, They must be in the biz of goin out of biz.
No matter what you say or come up with, they had some mumbo-jumbo on how the sky is green w/ orange strips at nite. They were BEYOND STUPID AND MORE THAN IMPOSIBLE TO TALK TO.
got to go ...my blood is getting hot again....

rumblefish360. They are probably remembering the last butt stompin a Mopar gave them, and that one probably wasn't superchargered. You've got me thinking about one for my 360 now.

The brother of a guy I work with has a Paxton on his Phordstang. He also owns a bone stock '94 Z28 (the other guys have no loyalty). The Z spanked him by 2 car lengths when they raced to 100, with the horsemeat actually winning the launch. They switched drivers for a true test scenario on the same stretch. The Z then spanked it by 3 car lengths. Both times the Z was pulling away.
From all I have heard and read, if you go this way on a stock engine, you want intercooled to prevent detonation. From the problems I have heard from Paxton owners, I wouldn't put one on a lawnmower.
- Just my opinion, nothing more. No offense intended to anyone, unless, of course, you drive a piece of horsemeat.
As for cmyindy, I am glad things have gone well for you. I, for one, am very impressed by your accomplishment. It is quite possible that the reports I have heard previously were from those who shouldn't be under hood anyway.

Paxton said they sell me one if I had somthing like you have. Otherwise, forget it.
Maybe in the future, I'll get the time & $$$ to do one again.
