Carb tuning ?
I have a 318 with a 2 bbl Carter that runs O.K. My question is what is the stock jet and metering rod for a 318? I beleive my carb came off a slant 6 225. I love the carb its has low end torque for great city driving. I notice that when I have this one vacuum port open the car responds better and is more torquer. Does this mean that I have the car jetted wrong? This vacuum port only comes on when the engine is under load. I have since hooked it up to the can and have it sucking on the gas fumes, seems to be working O.K. but it still runs way better when it suck on open air. Any and all help appreciated, thanks to all who contribute in advanance.

Not real sure what you are asking but the vacume port you are talking about sounds like the ported vacume that should go to the vacume advance on the distributor. Dam the spelling, but you get the idea.

I don't think the 2-bbl carbs have metering rods, just jets and a non-adjustable power valve.

the carter bbd has 2-metering rods. you cannot change sizes on the accelerator pump but you can adsjust it for more of a shot.
