Question cam for 360

I'm trying to pep up my tow vehicle from a 318 to a 360 what is a good camshaft for this application? Also I'm going to purchase an aftermarket aluminum intake , maybe an Edelbrock performer and 600 Holley any advice or input greatly appreciated THANKS

I ran a tow truck for years,75 1 ton 4x4 with a 79 360 4 bbl from a 79 300 anniversary edition(rated at 240hp),in stock form it was ok but I added headers and duals with a Edelbrock 600 and what a transformation it made. This motor uses the 340 cam stock(.429/.444).I would consistently get 13.5 mpg at 65 mph with 4.10 gears, and when towing anything less than 4000 lbs my mpg barely dropped, never less than 12mpg.It always amazed me.The stock 340/360 4 bbl intake is a great piece dont overlook it just because its cast iron. This tow rig had so much power/mpg that Ive almost pulled the 440 out of my 78 3/4T 4x4 and built a 360 for it too, hope this helps............PRO.......

I'm putting the Mopar 260/268 duration 0.430"/0.450" cam in a RamCharger 318 right now.
I'll post how it works out. This cam is my choice for a good low buck RV cam/lifter package.
For more money, the Hughes HE0914AL is darn nice, but requires stiff valve springs and retainers from Hughes.

My dad uses the Edelbrock Performer cam in his 78 Dodge 3/4 ton 2wd. It has the oringal 360 with the Edelbrock cam, Edelbrock 600 carb, headers with 2 1/4" dual exhaust, 4-speed and 4.10's in a Dana. When we added the cam is when we noticed a big difference in power, it has great low end power. He is the orignal owner and the truck has 62,000 orignal miles.

in your 360 you can go up to a .480/.480 without sacrificing anything else like drivability, etc. as far as duration stay under 300 degrees or you will have a very sluggish 360...go with a .480/480 @ 280 or 290 degrees, i put one in an e58 cop motor in my power wagon and it really brought it to life but without overkilling anything, like drivability!

Wink cam

Thanks kikstand 1 Iv'e decided to go with a Crane H272-2 Powermax it has 272/284 dur. and 454/480 lift the basic rpm range is 2000 to 5000 I think this would be a very good cam with lots of low end torque . Anyone out there ever run this cam ?

I have used this cam years ago in a 318 that did very well. The 318 even had good torque down low. It moved my fat assed Cuda well. You should be happy with it. Keep compression around 9.0-1
