broken oil pick-up tube on a 440
I have a "66 440 and recently broke the oil pick up tube. Was wondering if anyone else has done this and how did you remedy it . It was the heavy duty 3/8 tube. is there any way of bracing this.

I have a 1/2" easy out that should get it out. the pickup is threaded in pretty tight but if that does not work you can try to weaken it by filing the inside or using a small hand grinder with a carbide bit. You will have to jamb some cleanex or tissue paper in past the end of the threaded part and then put a little motor oil or grease in top of that to keep the chips from going into the pump. Mask off the rest of the motor extra good to keep the airborne stuff out. Take your time and be careful not to go beyond the threads in the pickup tube. I once removed a broken 1 1/2" nipple from a $400K hydraulic punch press without taking it apart with the tissue and grease method. Saved lots of time and even more money this way.
