Blown stock Hemi, what do ya think?
Here's the plan... We have a stock, out of the box 426 crate Hemi, a 6-71 Littlefield blower, 2 750 Speed demons, Hooker super comp headers, MSD 7AL3 timing box. We want to blow the Hemi at 15% under to make a little more horsepower and torque. If we leave the cam alone and run only 114 octane race fuel set the retard to 5 degrees @ 4800 to 5000 with shift points at 5500 will we be in any danger of KA-BOOM??? I realize we don't have the strongest rods in the world but we're not asking for 1000 horse either, just a little to get to a 7.0 - 7.3 target eighth mile bracket. The GTX it is going into right now has a 440 with 727 TF, 3230 Lbs without me in it. I believe the stall is 3200, but I do have a 4000 stall converter also. I'm looking for suggestions or at least piece of mind. Anyone have some ideas???

Hey Bigiron;
I don't know enuff to make a comment on where to go with this, but, did you call the manufacturer of the blower. Call BDS if ya can't get ahold of Littlefeild. Ask in general ?'s. If they figure out it's not there blower, its over and the'll give ya a line about not being responsable, not our stuff, our stuff this and that and etc... Call Ma MoPar or better yet Larry Shepard. His ph# is in the mags. He does this type of stuff. |
