Default Min. manifold vac. for power brakes.

What is the minimum amount of manifold vacuum you can have before you have to ditch power brakes??

I ran a 360 with a 10:1 509 hydraulic cam for 2 years; maybe 10 inches at idle in gear. I also had installed a vacumn canister to help with the power brakes. 2 good panic stops and then no assist. I eventually switched to manual brakes.

I think I need to pull 11" or 12" for them to work correctly. I should get a vacuum canister for them, but I haven't bothered to get one yet.

Was just on a great web site www.victorylibrary.com they had a low cost vaccum pump sold by AC Delco that is small and will cure any cam accum issues.

was just going start a post asking about changing to manual brakes.... for those of you that have done it do you just drop off the booster? nope, can't be that easy for something that I want to do.
currently 66 Charger 4 wheel drum single master cylinder
changing to dual master cylinder, proportioning valve and four wheel disc.......
heard somewhere that the Mopar setup would allow you to get more line pressure (better right?) with manual system then the same power setup....

GET REAL GET MOPAR or GO HOME
