Unhappy 1973 Dodge Charger HELP!!!

Ok...
I'm run'n a '73 Charger w/a 400
Just built a 383 to about 400 HP that i'm bout to drop in her, but what's the most i can get out of the original engine?
Some sites have said the 400's Bore + Short stroke = a lot of power with decent heads... is this good info or should i just drop the 383 in there and leave the 400 on an engine stand somewhere?

The only draw back to the 400 is piston availability. Factory they are 8-1 comp engines. My 400 turned 13.1's and bbapense got his to turn a 12.9. These both were 8-1 engines. The 383 will make more power if it has more compression. If the 383 is ready to go, drop it in.
I'm putting my 400 back together so I can run cheap gas.
