With much pondering and good advice (thanks guys) I have decided that my noise and vibration problems are all my fault in the first place.
My driveshaft is 'cobbled' together. The driveshaft is a shortened original 318/904 tranny that used the small U-joints. Well I transplanted a BB/727 with a slip yoke that needs the big U-joints. Answer? A combo U-joint. The opposite end; same story, I swapped in a 8 3/4 rearend that has the big yoke that needs the large U-joint. The driveshaft has the small end. Answer? Yep, another combo U-joint. To top all that off the goof balls at the driveline shop cut the drive shaft 1.5" too short. Now, these 'professionals' look at all this and didn't once mention that this combination of parts would cause vibration problems. Hmm, what a disaster. The MP catalog has a 'driveshaft in a box' kit to make a custom driveshaft. That sucker is $300 bux. Would looking for a complete driveshaft from a donor car be advisable? OUCH! my aching wallet! |

Yes, it would be much cheaper even with balancing and new joints.

The 70 Coronet had many different u joints. If you ordered a u joint for a 383 4bbl. it is not the same as a 383 HP. Sounds like I changed one out in my fuzzy youth? BTW if you ever have any questions I own the factory manual for thr 70 Coronet/Super Bee/ Charger
