Default Whats your fav spark plug for SB?

Just curious what most people run for spark plugs in their small blocks. Or maybe you can recommend one for mine! I got a 360 with a true 9.7:1 compression, Stage II ported Heads, Hughes 3038 AL cam (276/286 230/236 @.050" .515"/.535" Lift) Roller rockers, 750 CFM carb, Edelbrock Air-Gap, etc... Thanks!

I have tried several brands including platinum, the best performance and durability is with Autolites.

Thumbs up

I must doubt a bit any performance gains with your particular combo, other than sales preeches. I have tried tens of different setups with no noticeable gains over each other, been very happy with NGK products, heat range 6 suites you. Don't waste your money on multitip or platinium or V-power or whatever.
You don't need them.

I have tried many different plugs in my SB's and end up with Autolite AP 63 Platinum gapped at .035 for a stock ignition and .050 for a MSD. They seem to last long. I think that SB Racer is correct as far as getting a "gain" from any plug but a platinum plug is less maintanance and the Autolite's are cheap. I had a 88 Shelby Z and the standard plug would last about 15,000 miles before the electrode had radiused edges. I installed platinums and they lasted for 40,000 before I replaced them just because. They still looked good.

I've always used autolite 64's with good results in my 360. I'm very interested in your combo as I'm looking to do some upgrades in the top end of my motor. Looking at the Stage II Hughes. What do you think of their work? Also how much did you end up spending?

Thanks.
Jay.

I agree with SB Racer on this one.

I had a vintage motorcycle that would foul NGK plugs but never would have any problems with Champion (same heat range), so I switched.

I'd say use whatever doesn't give you problems. In most cases, any bargain bin plugs will perform just fine.

by the way, nice user name!

I've tried a few different ones in my 318, including NGK, Champion and Autolite. The setup that mine prefers the most is 8mm Mallory wires with AP66 Autolite Platinums set @ 36. They have a 3 yr. guarantee against fouling and seem to work best with my daily driver.

I have a question for the other Autolite users. I am using the 63's that translate to a "9" in a Champion. What heat range is a 64 or 66, a 10 and 12?
