Default '68 dodge Polara??

I've got a question for our American friends.

I've recently stumbled across a '68 Dodge Polara hardtop, It's powered by a Hi Po 383 4bbl and has power everything. My questions are:

1) How rare are these things?

2)What was the biggest motor you could option in a '68 Polara?

3)Has anyone here got one, and can they show me some picture's so I get an idea of what they look like in good condition.

I'm considering buying this car as a family cruiser/street sleeper, as I love the long flowing lines, and my wife will love the fact it has all the power options she could ever need. It is a full resto project however, so it will take me some time. The plan for under the hood is a twin turbo'ed, fuel injected big block and maybe a 4 speed auto (a-518). Anyone see any problems with this?

Hey Hemi,
I don't have any pics for you, but if you need something for the car, let me know. I'm supposed to pick up a 4dr (minus motor and trans) as a parts car in a couple of weeks. If you need trim or something?

The only problem is that this one is a 2 door so not much would change over except the basic's I'm guessing.

I had a 1968 Polara 4-door which was a really nice car. I often miss having the car, it was fun to drive and had room to spare.

I'm not sure about the 2dr hardtop Polara's engine options, but the '68 ex-highway patrol 4dr post Polara I had years ago came with the 440 Magnum engine. Man, it hauled butt!

Come on guys surely someone has some info on these cars.

Are they rare?

What body are they? I'm guessing "C" body
Is there any websites out there, that would have info on them?

Wow a whole webring of them!

However after looking at them, it looks like the '64 is the best looking one. I might try and find one of those. The '68 I know of is in a shed and so I didn't get to see it from a distance. Now that I have, man they are ugly!

Plus There A guy I know of that has a '66 charger that would very desirable as well. Oh well I'll see what I end up with.

Got my headers for my Blown small block today so it'll be finished next weekend. I'll post pic's when it's done.

Thank's guys

Thumbs up

1968 Polara was a C-body and could be purchased with a 6 cyl, 318, 383 and 440. I still have a 68 Polara 2 door parts car that was a 440 car and thought about restoring it but at this time thats too much for me. These are really great looking cars and even though they are heavy they make quite a fine cruiser and can really be a performer also.
