Default slow cars suck

i have a 1994 dodge spirit...any somewhat cheap engine mods? i heard K&N, 2.5 easy flow exhaust, and timing changes help...will any of that help in a 2.5 non-turbo? btw, for some reason my 2.5 seems to be better than spirit v6's...hmmm, i can actually do a burnout with it i just wanna go faster than 94 miles an hour......
also, anything that i can nab off of a turbo engine easily and put on mine? i work at a salvage yard...easy to get parts hehe

The only mods I've ever seen help Spirits, Sundances, Colts, Daytonas and such front wheel drive cars are the following. 340 or 440 engine, 727 trans, 83/4 diff, and all the other various parts and modifications required to install those pieces. Hate to burst your bubble, but you might as well accept the fact that your slow car does in fact suck, and you'll spend twice the money and time trying to make it half as fast as a V-8 powered car. At least you have easy and probably cheap access to parts, something that most of us don't. Good luck whatever you decide to build up............djs

I'd hunt down a 2.2 Turbo, there's lotsa parts I've seen for them. One guy on the net has a 2.2 done up in a 2 door areies k car that pulls mid 14's in the 1/4. The interior is gutted but still a cool sleeper

Thumbs down dodge spirit

I'd say your best bet would be to put nitrous on it until it blows up,then sell it to your local car crushing yard!

Lightbulb this is not the arena for you

You should try the guys in the front wheel drive chat.
They are much more knowledgable in this arena. I don't mean to blow you off, but most of them don't check outside that particular forum. I know of at least one in the 11's and a number of them in the 12's.
This is generally on Shelby Daytonas, if I remember correctly. But I am sure they could give you a good listing of mods that work and mods that only waste time.
I couldn't care less about the displacement. Whoever puts one of our own in front of the other guys is most certainly on my side. Best of luck to you.

Do you need to do any modifications to those FWDs to make them handle decently at higher speeds? The fastest I've driven a FWD myself was a 91 Cadillac. Got it upto around 115mph before I had to slow down (had I gone abit furhter before slowing down I would have hit the main hwy again and also risked being seen by a cop coming down from that speed).
