Looks good, I read on speedtweaks that this is being designed by a physics major (i.e. scientifically designed) to work with an almost identical NACA duct from a Viper, should work pretty well.

Kevin:

I read that too. Neat. I still like the looks of the double scoop one. Not the one that looks like a pillbox, the one I'm talkin about has the scoops that look like the ones on the older FireBirds. Kinda like jet intakes. Although this one looks real good.

The big question is how much is it and will the 14x3 fit without hitting the roof of the hood?

Finished pictures of the hood will be available tonight!
The hood was painted, and mounted on a new black R/T (dakota) for the pictures. Here are a few primary ones

Well, It definately wont be the cheapest hood on the market, but it wont be the most expensive. We will be releasing pricing and start taking orders in the next few weeks.
Here are a few reasons for higher prices:
-The very best quality fiberglass and resin
-Each hood is hand layed with extreme quality control
-Fully steel reinforced
-fully finished inside and out
-showclass fit, actually fits better then stock
-over 1 year engineering and testing
-over 4 seperate companies worked on bring it to completion
-extensive testing including but not limited to: air flow data, dyno, 1/4 mile, and computerized fluid dynamic testing will be completed.
-fully functional enclosed RamAir system and rear cowl for heat extraction.

Ill post pricing in a few weeks!

Thanks,

Jonas Janek

Yes, if we can do 5 or more at a time, we can do a group buy price! To keep prices low already we will be the only person carrying and selling the hood, so there isnt alot ot work with, but if you want to setup a group purchase.. we can do something.

Anyone know how to buy advertising on here?? Ive tried to email them a bunch of times but the email keeps bouncing?

Darn, you are right.. I forgot about that (just answering the post)...

OK then.. For the record..

THERE WILL BE NO GROUP BUY, NO ADVERTISING OF A GROUP BUY, OR WHERE A GROUP BUY CAN BE FOUND, in regaurds to this product! I will in no way setup anything on this site in that manner.

Hopefully that will take care of it.. sorry again

BUT if an admin is reading this could you please post some info on who someone could pay for advertising on mopar chat??? Ive tried to emial a bunch of times.. but the emial bounces! Id love to become a sponsor of the site!

Okay, how's about we have a community investment looking simply to beautify the world by replacing our heavy, unattractive stock hoods? No "group buy" there. Let me know the pricing mjcreel@hotmail.com

Default Update on RamAir hood

Just an update for everyone...

The molds are done, and the first 5 tester hoods should ship by early next week. Assuming that all fittings go perfectly and that we do not need to make any adjustments we should be able to start taking orders on the hood the middle of the week next week (wed. 23rd Jan 02).

Just an update incase anyone wanted to know.

Jonas,
What are some of the technical aspects of the hood? I am an engineer at Boeing. What kind of work are you up to there? Sounds like a bit more fun than working on the sonic cruiser. Email if you want to chat. Later.

Ahh boeing.. yes we have part of your company here in St. Louis.

Actually the hood uses the well know (at least by engineers) NACA hood scoop. Which is recessed into the "bubble" of the hood to eliminate any drag, while maximizing airflow.

We wanted to run a mininum of 4:1 ratio of cross-sectional air flow to TB opening's (and we did)

We also have set the open cowl in the rear to function as a heat release device (either hot out or cold in, depending on your speed).

The front opeing actually runs into the air-system of the hood, which passed through a very free flowing fliter and almost straight into the TB (less turns, less restriction, better flow). The entire airsystem is also completely enclosed so to not allow for any underhood heat to warm the outside cool air (cooler air = more hp).

We have 5 hoods shipping out for testing. SOme will go out this weekend. One is going to Flometris engineering where it will be
extensively tested. One is coming to me for computer modeling and even more testing (simulated airspeed track runs, on a dyno..etc). The other 3 will just be for dyno and 1/4 mile testing.

Really what we aimed to do is make a great looking, great quality, and great performing hood.

Anyway, we will start taking orders on them probally next wednesday, but wont have tests done for sometime after that (Its a given that they work, just how much still has to be tested, and it seems alot of people want them for looks reguardless of performance).

If you want some specifics on it drop me an email and ill give you what you need (plus Ive already worked out almost all of the calculations, now its just a matter of how it interfaces with each engine).

Ugg, It wont effect the RamAir of the hood. Depending on exactly what kind of wiper cowl you have may have an effect on the cooling properties of the cowl, and if the cowl will have proper clearance.

If you have some pictures why dont you send the to me so I can see more clearly what we are talking about.

Dont freak until you read the explaination!

Retail on the hood is 850.00 with the airsystem and airfilter.

The retail on the hood without the airsystem and filter is 750.00.

Im having a special at 650.00 for only the first 25 hoods, and we will send you the airbox for free as soon as they are tested (approx 3 weeks). We use one of the most expensive resins on the market, each hood is made one at a time and handlayed by the same craftsman. The hood is Fully finished inside and out (its a double panel design one outer panel and one inner bonded together. This creates a show quality finish

I have had some people who thought the price was quite excessive, and others who didnt blink twice. We simply have way too much money in each hood to sell them for any less then 650.00, which is right at our cost to make them, and is for a very limited time and limited number.

We have also contracted Flometrics engineering and two other engineers for the design and testing of the hood which adds to our expenses.

I know there are other hoods out there that you can get for less then this one, but we didnt want to make another run-of-the-mill non-functional hood, instead we made a very functional work of art.

Let me know if you have ANY questions and I will be glad to answer them. Also.. WE have only 8 sets remaining of the pre-order 20" R/T rims..

The price is in US dollars, but we are working with a warehouse in Canada right now so that we will be able to have them up there for shipping and save you guys the exchange rate.

We have plenty of pictures of our prototypes, but our first production hood gets installed tommorrow (saturday), and our other 4 tester production hoods will ship early in the week next week. So Ill post pictures of each hood (all are diffrent colors) the same day they are taken.
