Question Autotrans... Help Please

I recently traded a '93 D350 extra cab for a '96 3500 extra cab. The problem I'm having is the trans shifts too quickly and it also makes 2 lunges when you put it in drive, also when you take it out of drive back to neutral. Of course I didn't notice this until I had traded. Both trucks are auto's. Never had trouble with the '93 but it didn't have the lock-up convertor. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it. Thanks

I don't know the answer to your question, but here's a link to someone who should be able to help. www.dieseltrans.com Bill Kondolay is an expert at diesel transmission, and torque converters.

Thanks Big Red. I've sent a message along to him but don't have a reply yet. This may sound dumb, but what is the TV cable. Not very familiar with these trucks yet.

The TV cable does the same thing as the kick down linkage did on older cars. I believe it stands for throttle valve.

If Bill's busy, let BRM help you out. He knows his trucks.

sounds indeed like the tv cable needs to be tightend up. This will delay shifting the farther out you adjust the cable. Its the other cable under the accelorator cable going to the throttle linkage. It had a little round portion that you push/squeez and the slide the cable out. You should move it about 1/16inch at a time until shift points are as desired.
