Question /6 Fuel milage?

What MPG did the /6 get in a Cuda or Dart Body, or a small PU, with Auto and AC get?

I think I'd like to get an older car with pretty good milage. HP is not a problem. Just the ability to hold Freeway speeds.

My '76 Duster has always averaged around 18 and my '66 Valiant has gotten as good as 24. I've seen some guys with pickups with the overdrive 4 speed saying they get around 20.

Biggrin gas milage

i got bout 22 average with my slant 6 in my duster, it had a 4 brl duels with true headers, it had a h-pipe, dynomax mufflers, adn a mopar performance ignition and a MSD coil. the rest of the engine was basically stock. as far as i know it was a western auto long block, it had a 904 tranny and around s 2.7ish gear ratio.

I had a 74 Scamp a few years ago. It had been in the family since new. It was stock and got 27 mpg on the highway. Great car, but it rusted out in some unrepairable places.

Wink

I get 18-20 MPG with my stock slant in my "72 Satellite with 2.94 axle. Its a heavy car, so you should do better with an A body.

Smile /6 milage.

Many thanks for all your replies. I was thinking of getting one of the older /6's for my local beater. Hauling the Boat trailer and such, but now I have to pull in my Horns a little.
I have a Truck, a fairly new Van and any more would be a strain on my Insurance bill.
I am impressed with the milage though. The Chebby 4.3L with FI and the Computer only gets 15MPG. That put's those old mopar sixes in a very good light.
Thanks agian.

Default Mileage

Had a '78 Volare coupe, single barrel carb, Torqueflite. Stupid thing got 30 mpg on highway trips. Not very much on acceleration, but cruised at 65 with very little engine noise or apparent strain. Loved that little car til my wife wrecked it.
