I am puting in a new moter in a 1984 Ramcharger, The owner wants to get rid of his computer and put in a crome box I got the box and the wiring harness and need to know if anyone can tell me where to hook up three of the five wires, I have a green/red wire a black/gold wire and a blue/yellow wire I beleave I need to run power from the bat, to the balist resistor and from the other side of the resistor hook up the green/red wire I think. Please help I don't have a lot of time to get this running. Thanks for any info.

You can check out http://www.fourforty.com/techstuff/ignition.html
The diagram you will see there is for a 4-pin ECM. If you need a 5-pin hook up, http://members.nbci.com/dustermocar/elecdualbal.html Be sure you hook up the dual ballast resistor for the 5-pin hook up correctly as it will burn out the ECM. Also the diagrams are unhooked from the ECM and are face up. |

This is what i would do....get a MSD or Crane CD box...pitch the whold ECU mess in the trash...you will get better starting/Performance, you can open the Gap on your plugs, and never will have a stupid Ballast resistor problem ever again... all for a few hundred bucks...trust me, its worth it, and even easier to hook up than you can imagine....plus with the crane box you get a rev limiter...
