How loud can a '72 or older be in Texas legally???

I hear that an emissions system isn't required but what about mufflers? Is there a law that says an older car can't be this or that loud?

And if mufflers are required for the street, what would you guys recommend for best performance?

Well, its all up to the cop thats pulling you over...if he thinks youre too loud, he may cite you...Im sure there is a decibel law that says if your so far away fron the car on pavement the decibles should be no higher than XXX...I run 2 chamber flowmasters no my 440 powered Cuda...pretty loud, but the cars cool and cops like it, so no tickets yet...god help the harley guys if i get a ticket for loud exhaust...ill go to court with hours of videotape showing every open pipe harley on the street...and then ask why im being picked on....then if i lose, ill petiton the court to ticket every guy on my video tape, hehe i think they might let me go...
