Question

I have A-body 8 3/4 rearend with narrow drums and 4" bolt pattern. I Want to convert it to 4,5" and wider drums. Can it be done just changing brakes from b-body 8 3/4 and axles from c- or b-body and shorten them and machine new splines?

Thanks, That was the point, I wanted to know if the backing plate and wider drum will fit. The Axles I modify here from those c-body parts. How about the green axle bearings, no adjusting required? Better? By the way the car is -73 Dart 4Door sedan. 440cid Funmobile.

Thumbs up

I had Moser do a set of axles for my Duster last summer. I sent them E-body axles. Cut, respline, green bearings, and long studs were $170 plus shipping. They put in the long studs free when I bought the green bearings. I think you can use C or E-body, or truck axles. B-body are too short to respline. (It has something to do with where the taper starts) Dennis

Just thought I'd let you know you can have the 4.5 bolt pattern drilled in your 4 inch axles.
