Question Cat-back exhaust

Has anyone put on a cat-back system? I am thinking about a force II from Flowmaster ( I believe it comes w/ a 70 series muffler). Did anyone ever hear the 50 series performance for suv's on a D? Which is the best exhaust for torque? I need some input so I can ask the GF to order it for x-mas hahahah.

I think most of us have just cut in a performance muffler, at least that is what I did. I had a Flowmaster 40 Series Delta Flow on my 5.2L Dak and it sounded awesome, a little too loud for the passenger compartment of an SUV but still good none the less.

I'd agree with Kevin, you'd save money, and you guys have stainless stock exhausts too right?

my point was, the stock system isn't bad enough to make much of a diff, the muffler is the choking point. By cutting in a freer flowing muffler, you'll get the most gains for the least $.

I'm a budget minded person, 3.5 kids and all.

Default Muffler cut-in

The durango comes with 2.5" mandrel bent pipe. Just swap the Muff. Going with any larger pipe without some mods will cause a loss of torque.

My 01 RT had 2.25 pipes from the factory (Yup, measured 'em twice when I pulled them..... Clearly not very good for the 360.

You won't see very much (if any at all) decrease in torque letting the 360 breathe better by going with a single 3" out (or dual 2.25 or 2.5 from the muffler, depending on other mod's).....You still have enough back pressure on the magnum engine.

I agree that cutting in the muffler is cost effective. If you want to squeeze everything you can, performance wise, from the exhaust, rip it all out and do it the way it should have been done at the factory (if they weren't controlling costs)....

Exclamation

I went with the cat back system and love it!!

I noticed a large gain in performance but to be fair I did the FIPK at the same time as my 3" SS K&N system..

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say "LOVE THAT SOUND" makes it hard to stay out of the gas after the exhaust upgrade!!!
