what would be the better motor for the money a 340 stroker or a 360 stroker? what are advantages or disadvantages of either. I like the 360, had a 450hp 360 in my volare, but thought a stroked 360 would be fun. I have heard that the stroker crank for a 360 is about a $1000 more than a 340 crank? Have also thought about using the 340X block but see that its around $1500 new. Would a stock 340 or 360 block hold up to a stroker build?

I would say that a 340 block would be the better bet. It has a bigger bore and the mains have smaller bearing for less friction.
With a bigger bore, the valves are less shrouded. It breaths better. The 340 blocks disadvantage is its harder to come by. And the race block is a bit exspensive for that "On the cheap stroker" A stock block can take it. But will not take as much or as long compared to the "race" blocks that are offered. It would make sense, not to get crazy on a stock block. Everything has there limits. So if a superman motor is what you want, get superman parts. I believe the cranks are the same price. Go to mancini racing to check it out. |

Alot of the cost will depend on weather the crank and pistons are forged or cast. There are also the KB's out there now also that are inexpensive. $$$$$ are in the eye of the beholder. Rumblefish is right, call mancini but also call Hughes, Speed O motive and Muscle Motors. There are complete kits that range between 1700 and up depending on the combo of parts. I also agree on Rumblefish on the 340 deal but the 360 core will probably be gotten cheaper. It will all depend on the depth of your pockets. .DAVE
